Going there

I love to travel. It has been a life passion since I was a wee lass. Thing is, I don't get to do it much...yet. So, when I get a chance to get out and explore I will soak up every inch of wherever it is. I like to think I know a few places around Austin really well but there's always more to discover.
I first began traveling when I was born. I was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia. I've been fortunate enough to go visit there when I was young, however, I got deathly ill and was laid up in bed with I.V.'s sticking out my arm for a good month of the visit. Despite the trauma, I would love to take my family there one day so they, too, may eat and explore my birthland. It's gorgeous!
Throughout my childhood I was fortunate enough to visit several places in Central America and Europe. I used to joke about being everywhere except inside the U.S.
As life rolled along, I got married and had a kiddo which slowed the roll for a little while. I lived vicariously through my travel agent parents and world hopping brother and sister-in-law. I look through their pictures of exploration and wonder and daydream "One day."
My family just got back from a rushed vacation through Greece, Egypt and the Middle East. They always send lovely postcards to my son (even though they don't arrive until after the trip is over-Yeah postal service!), who soaks them up like a sponge. I love seeing the sparkle in his eyes as he, too, daydreams "One day."
My mother calls to ask if my son had received the presents she sent him from Greece whereby he told her he loved it and "I'm glad you sent these. I'm gonna go there."
I smile and think "Yes, you will, son. Yes, you will."
